a city in Poland and administrative center of Siedlce Województwo. Population, 42,500 (1974; 27,000 in 1953). A railroad junction, Siedlce has a plant for the production of steel structural components, a precision-mechanics plant, a plant for the production of modular building units, and a foundry; all came into production in the 1970’s. The city produces foodstuffs, such as alcohol, flour, and canned milk products, and manufactures knitwear and toys.
