(trans-mish'ŭn-bāst prĕ-kaw'shŭnz) Measures established by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to prevent transmission of highly communicable pathogens. Extra precautions are followed, at this second level, in addition to standard precautions, based on the potential means of disease transmission: airborne, droplet, or contact.
