The fruits are used fresh and to make jam, juice, wine, and other products. The small tree or bush is remarkably winter-hardy. The yield is moderate (6-12 kg per tree) and not annual. For good fertility, the pollinator varieties Rastun’ia, Ostheim Griotte, Black Shirpotreb, and others are needed. It is wide-spread in the central region of the RSFSR and in the Northern Caucasus as well as in Western Europe and the USA.
