Vladimir Cherry

Vladimir Cherry

(also Roditelev cherry), the best Russian variety of cherry. It has been cultivated for a long time in Vladimir and adjacent oblasts. The fruits are medium or large in size, dark red, succulent, sweet-sour, and outstanding in taste. They ripen in July. The juice is thick and dark red. The fruits are used fresh and to make jam, juice, wine, and other products. The small tree or bush is remarkably winter-hardy. The yield is moderate (6-12 kg per tree) and not annual. For good fertility, the pollinator varieties Rastun’ia, Ostheim Griotte, Black Shirpotreb, and others are needed. It is wide-spread in the central region of the RSFSR and in the Northern Caucasus as well as in Western Europe and the USA.
