A sleep/wake disorder (OMIM:612853) characterised by unpleasant sensations in the legs that appear at rest (usually at night), which trigger an irresistible urge to move the legs, resulting in nocturnal insomnia and chronic sleep deprivation.
Molecular pathology
Caused by defects of MEIS1, which encodes a transcription factor required for hematopoiesis, megakaryocytopoiesis and vascular development.
