sickle cell hepatopathy sick·le cell hep·a·top·a·thy (sik'ĕl sel hep'ă-top'ă-thē) Any liver disorder directly related to the sickling process of sickle cell disease and the transfusions required for its treatment. The direct manifestations are related primarily to vascular occlusion and include acute ischemia, sequestration, and cholestasis. Hepatitis and hepatic abscesses are also seen in acute sickle hepatic crisis. |
