Uglegorsk
a city under oblast jurisdiction in Sakhalin Oblast, RSFSR. Port on the Tatar Strait, 150 km north of the railroad station of Il’insk. Population, 18,400 (1975). Uglegorsk has a timber-distribution establishment, a pulp-and-paper combine, a shop of the Sakhalinmebel’ furniture firm, and the Stroidetal’ plant, which produces structural components. It also has a number of food-processing plants. Coal is mined near the city.
Uglegorsk
a city in Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, under the jurisdiction of the Enakievo city soviet. Railroad junction of the lines from Donetsk to Nikitovka and Debal’tsevo. Population, 15,000, (1975). Situated in a coal-mining region, Uglegorsk has a central ore-concentration plant, as well as enterprises of the food-processing industry.
