Sibirskie Ogni

(Siberian Lights), a literary and sociopolitical magazine and an organ of the Writers’ Union of the RSFSR and the Novosibirsk Division of the Writers’ Union of the RSFSR. It has appeared monthly in Novosibirsk since 1922.

The magazine publishes chiefly works by Siberian writers that deal with the region’s past and contemporary life. Among eminent writers who have published in Sibirskie ogni are V. Shishkov, L. Seifullina, V. Ivanov, R. Fraerman, S. Zalygin, V. Shukshin, S. Sartakov, P. Proskurin, A. Koptelov, P. Rebrin, and Iu. Rytkheu. The magazine has played a vital role in the development of the national literatures of Siberia. Circulation. 98,000(1975).
