pir·o·men

(pir'ō-men, pī'rō-), A sterile, nonprotein, nonanaphylactogenic extract of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Proteus vulgaris. The active components are bacterial polysaccharides of low toxicity; used to treat some allergic, dermatologic, and ophthalmic disorders. Synonym(s): pyromen
