Scale Car

an electrically propelled self-unloading gondola car used mainly in metallurgical plants to transfer ore or coke from storage bins to the blast-furnace skip pit. A scale car usually consists of two two-axle undercarriages supporting an open-top body. The body is divided by a transverse partition into two hoppers with sloping floors and mechanical dumpers.
