Vishnevskii, Vikentii Karlovich
Born in 1781; died June 1 (13), 1855, in St. Petersburg. Russian astronomer. Member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1804). Born in Poland.
Vishnevskii received his astronomical education in Berlin and was a professor at the University of St. Petersburg (1819). In 1803 he was appointed deputy to the director of the observatory of the Academy of Sciences. Between 1806 and 1815, Vishnevskii conducted several geographical expeditions, during which he determined the positions of 223 astronomical points. He observed the comets of 1807 and 1811.
