Soviets of Peasants’ Deputies

 

elective political organizations that were first established in several places in Russia during the Revolution of 1905–07. The soviets of peasants’ deputies were modeled on the soviets of workers’ deputies. During the February Revolution of 1917, they were organized as bodies of revolutionary power, and after the October Revolution of 1917, they merged with the soviets of workers’ and soldiers’ deputies.
