Established: 1992.
Location:Northwestern Oregon, 15 miles southwest of downtown Portland.
Activities:Guided canoe tours, guided bird walks, hiking.
Special Features:Refuge is home to nearly 200 species of birds, more than 50 species of mammals, 25 species of reptiles and amphibians, and a wide variety of insects, fish, and plants.
Habitats: When acquisition is complete, the refuge will total over 3,000 acres of rivers and streams, seasonal and permanent wetlands, forested wetlands, riparian areas, grasslands, shrublands, and forested uplands.
Access: Site is currently under development and access is limited; contact refuge office for details.
Wild life: Migrating waterfowl, beaver, deer, heron, native fish, raptors, and songbirds.
