Viscin Oil

Viscin Oil

a mineral oil that is used in air filters of ventilation devices for purifying air. Viscin oil is extracted from low-sulfur petroleum by mixing heavy residual (cylinder) oil and light distillate (spindle) oil. The first component provides the adhesive properties of the oil; the necessary mobility is ensured by the second component. Viscin oil must meet the requirements of GOST (All-Union State Standard) 7611-50: viscosity (50° C), 19-24 centistokes or (19-24)xl(10-6 m2/sec; flashpoint, 165° C; and solidification temperature, -20° C.To absorb dust from the air, metal boxes of filters are filled with filtering materials (metal filings and so on), which are dampened with viscin oil.
