[¦rez·ən·ənt ‚mas an′ten·ə] (engineering) A detector of gravitational radiation, consisting of a mass of several tons of aluminum or other metal, in the shape of a cylinder or a truncated icosahedron, and attached electromechanical transducers that convert deformations of the mass to electronic signals.
