Soviet-Cambodian Agreements
Diplomatic relations were established between the USSR and Cambodia on May 13, 1956. On May 31,1957, the two countries concluded agreements on trade, payments, cultural and scientific cooperation, and the construction of a hospital in Phnom Penh as a gift. The USSR and Cambodia also signed an agreement on the construction of a higher technical school in Phnom Penh as a gift (June 24, 1961) and a protocol on economic and technical assistance to Cambodia for the construction of a hydroelectric power plant on the Kam-chay River (Apr. 15,1963).
