walking epiduralA form of anesthetic used primarily in pregnancy, in which a small amount of anesthetic is given by injection into the epidural space. Instead of experiencing complete numbness below the spinal level of the block, the patient is still able to sense some pain and may sometimes be able to move her legs enough to adjust her position in bed, sit in a chair, or control continence.
