(transshĕnt fāshăl păr-ali-sis) Short-term loss of motor activity of a muscle innervated by the facial nerve because of injury or disease involving such nerve or muscle. A common cause is incorrect local anesthetic placement about the facial nerve that took place during an inferior alveolar nerve block.
