Uftiuga

the name of several rivers in the Severnaia Dvina River basin. The following are the largest:

(1) A river in Arkhangel’sk Oblast, RSFSR. A right tributary of the Severnaia Dvina, the river is 236 km long and drains an area of 6,300 sq km. It is fed by mixed sources, chiefly by snow. The average flow rate 55 km from the mouth is 37.5 cu m per sec. The river freezes over in late October or in November, and the ice breaks up in late April or early May. The river is used for timber flotation.

(2) A river in Vologda Oblast (source in Arkhangel’sk Oblast). A left tributary of the Sukhona River, the river is 134 km long and drains an area of 2,360 sq km. The average flow rate is 21.8 cu m per sec. The river is used for timber flotation.

(3) A river in Vologda Oblast. A left tributary of the Kokshenga River, the river is 124 km long and drains an area of 1,060 sq km.

(4) A river in Vologda Oblast that empties into Kubena Lake. The river is 117 km long and drains an area of 1,280 sq km. km.
