(also Walvis Bay), a city and port in Namibia, on the Atlantic coast. Population, 12,000 (1969). The city is linked by rail with the city of Windhoek. It is a base for whaling and fishing. Industries include fish canning and ship repairing.

(also Walvis Bay), an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean on the southwestern coast of Africa. Walvisbaii measures 10 km in length and more than 10 km in width at the entrance; it has depths to 9 m. There are semidiurnal tides rising up to 1.5 m. The port of Walvisbaii, Namibia, is situated on the bay.
