Ping Pong Fracture

A popular term for a depressed smooth concave cranial vault fracture of the neonatal skull, so named for the similarity to the indentation that can be produced by focal pressure on a ping pong ball. It is not generally associated with intracranial injury
Aetiology Use of forceps in a difficult delivery, secondary to pressure on the infant skull by the mother’s sacral promontory during delivery
