Lebedev, Valentin Vital’evich
Born Apr. 14, 1942, in Moscow. Pilot-cosmonaut of the USSR. Hero of the Soviet Union (1973); candidate of technical sciences (1975). Member of the CPSU since 1971.
Lebedev graduated from the S. Ordzhonikidze Moscow Institute of Aviation in 1966 and joined the staff of a design office. He was named a cosmonaut in 1972. From Dec. 18 to Dec. 26, 1973, flying with P. I. Klimuk he was the flight engineer aboard Soyuz 13. The flight lasted 7 days 20 hr 55 min.
Lebedev has been awarded the Order of Lenin and various medals.
