Belendzher

or Balendzhar, a medieval city in the Northern Caucasus. The site of Belendzher is hypothetically located near the village of Andreevo (Enderi, Zhdere) on the bank of the Sulak River in northern Dagestan. It was one of the capitals of the Khazar Khanate until the eighth century. It is known from the 13th-century Russian chronicles that Russian merchants lived in Belendzher.
