STK36

STK36

A gene on chromosome 2q35 that encodes a serine/threonine protein kinase which plays a key role in the sonic hedgehog (Shh) pathway by
regulating the activity of GLI transcription factors GLI1, GLI2 and GLI3, opposing the effect of SUFU and promoting their nuclear localisation. STK36 is required for postnatal development, possibly by regulating the homeostasis of cerebrospinal fluid or ciliary function. It interacts with SPAG16 and KIF27.
