STK25

STK25

A gene on chromosome 2q37.3 that encodes a ubiquitously expressed serine/threonine-protein kinase activated in response to oxidant stress, which thus may play a role in the response to environmental stress. It is phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR, and targets to the Golgi apparatus where it is thought to regulate protein transport, cell adhesion and polarity complexes, which are important for cell migration.
