Berounka
a river in Czechoslovakia; a left and the biggest tributary of the Vltava. The Berounka is 246 km long, drains a basin of approximately 8,900 sq km, and is formed near Mount Plzeň by the confluence of the Mže Radbuza, Uhlava, and Úslava rivers, which rise in the Český Les Mountains and Šumava Mountains. The Berounka flows into the Vltava 8 km south of Prague. High water is in spring. The river is used for floating timber. The cities of Plzeň and Beroun are located on the Berounka.
