Voges-Proskauer test Voges-Proskauer test[′fō·gə ′präs‚kau̇·ər ‚test] (microbiology) One of the four tests of the IMVIC test; a qualitative test for the formation of acetyl methylcarbinol from glucose, in which solutions of α-naphthol, potassium hydroxide, and creatinine are added to an incubated culture of test organisms in a glucose broth, and a pink to rose color indicates a positive reaction. |
