Shpola
a city (since 1938) and administrative center of Shpola Raion, Cherkassy Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Situated on the Shpolka River (southern Bug River basin). Railroad station on the Khristinovka-Tsvetkovo line. Population, 21,000 (1974). Shpola produces sugar, spare parts (a branch of the Mytishchi Machine Plant), confectionary goods, garments, and furniture.
