Auezov

Auezov

 

(until 1967, Bakyrchik), an urban-type settlement in Zharminsk Raion, Semipalatinsk Oblast, Kazakh SSR. Located in the spurs of the Kalbinskii Range, 50 km east of the Charsk railroad station on the Semipalatinsk-Aktogai line, it has a population of 3,600 (1968). There is gold mining in the settlement, which was renamed in honor of M. O. Auezov.
