Piggott, Lester Keith,
1935–, British jockey. A major figure in British horse racing after 1954, Piggott rode over 4,000 winners in Britain. He gained particular success in classic British races such as the DerbyDerby, English horse race, instituted (1780) by the 12th earl of Derby and held annually at Epsom Downs, near London. The race is open only to three-year-old colts and fillies that must be entered when yearlings.
