a city in northeastern Venezuela, in the state of Anzoátegui. Population, 82,100 (1970). Puerto la Cruz is a major port for the export of oil, with a freight turnover of approximately 23 million tons (1971). It has an oil refinery, with a capacity of 8 million tons. It also has a food industry.
