an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Azizbekov Raion, Armenian SSR. Azizbekov is located on the right bank of the Arpa River, 75 km east of the Arazdaian railroad station, on the Leninakan-Nakhichevan’ line. The Yerevan-Dzhermuk motor road passes through Azizbekov. Population, 3,200 (1968). Industry includes a cheese-processing plant and a branch of the Yerevan electronics plant (rheostats and other electrical equipment). Founded in 1956, it is named after one of the 26 Baku commissars, M. Azizbekov.
