Shota Grigorevich Nishnianidze
Nishnianidze, Shota Grigor’evich
(also, S. G. Mamageishvili). Born Mar. 18, 1929, in Tbilisi. Soviet Georgian poet.
Nishnianidze graduated from the department of philology at the University of Tbilisi in 1953. His works first appeared in print in 1946. Nishnianidze is the author of the collections of lyrical poetry You and I (1956), The Olive Branch (1961; Russian translation, 1966), Autumn in the Village (1959), and Sun and Shade (1963). He has written a narrative poem, Achilles’ Heel and Shield (1971), and a collection of poetry for children, Bro-tseula (1966). Nishnianidze has received the Order of the Badge of Honor.
