Vakh
a river in the eastern part of the Khanty-Mansi National Okrug, Tiumen’ Oblast, RSFSR; left tributary of the Ob’. Length, 964 km; basin area, 76,700 sq km. It rises in the watershed of the Ob’, Enisei, and Taz basins. It flows in a winding bed in the central part of the West Siberian Lowland. It is fed mainly by snow and rain. Average annual discharge, 504 eu m per sec, at the village of Lobchisnkoe. The main tributaries are Kulynigol, Sabun, and Kolik’egan on the right and the Bol’shoi Megtyg’egan on the left. The river is navigable until the village of Lar’iak.
