Starshinov, Viacheslav Ivanovich

 

Born May 6, 1940, in Moscow. Soviet ice hockey player. Honored Master of Sport (1963), coach. Candidate of pedagogical sciences (1975). Member of the CPSU since 1969.

Starshinov graduated from the Moscow Institute of Aviation Technology in 1964. He was several times a member of teams that won the championship of the USSR (Spartak team; 1962, 1967,1969), Europe (eight times in the years 1963–70), the world (nine times in the years 1963–71), and the Olympics (1964,1968). One of the best scorers in the history of Soviet ice hockey, Starshinov was recognized as the best offensive player at the world championship of 1965. He has been awarded two orders.
