Sasyk

(also Kunduk), a salt lake in Odessa Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Lake Sasyk has an area of 210 sq km, depths to 2.7 m, and widths of 3 to 12 km. It stretches from north to south for a distance of 29 km. The lake is separated almost completely from the sea by sandspits; only a narrow strait links it to the sea. The lake freezes in December, and the ice breaks in March.
