short card short card[¦shȯrt ¦kärd] (computer science) A printed circuit board that is plugged into an expansion slot in a microcomputer and is only half the length of a full-size card. short card (hardware)A half-length IBM PC expansion card or adaptorthat will fit in one of the two short slots located towardthe right rear of a standard chassis (tucked behind thefloppy disk drives).
