Benedict testA test to determine the presence of sugar in the urine by adding 8 drops of clear urine (filtered if necessary) to a test tube containing 5 ml of Benedict's solution. The mixture is boiled then allowed to cool. This test is performed rarely in clinical medicine owing to the advent of simpler, more specific tests for glycosuria.
