Sarykopa

a salt lake in the Kazakh SSR; located in the central part of the Turgai Gates. Lake Sarykopa extends from north to south for 53 km, covering an area of 336 sq km. The western shore is gently sloping, and the eastern shore rises to heights of 5–10 m. The lake consists of a series of deep pools. It is fed by snow; the Saryozen and Teke rivers flow into it. The water level varies considerably.
