tranexamic acid

[tran″ek-sam´ik] an agent that combats fibrinolysis by competitively inhibiting activation of plasminogen; used in prophylaxis and treatment of hemorrhage associated with excessive fibrinolysis, such as that following oral surgery in patients with hemophilia; administered orally or intravenously.
