Sartlan
Sartlan
a lake on the Baraba Steppe, in Novosibirsk Oblast, RSFSR. Covering an area of 238 sq km, Lake Sartlan has an average depth of 3 m and a maximum depth of 6 m. The shores slope gently and are overgrown with bulrushes. The lake is fed by snow; its water level fluctuates as much as 1.7 m. The lake freezes in late October or in the first half of November, and the ice breaks up in late April or in May. The water is salty. The Karapuz River flows into the lake. Several species of fish are taken from the waters of Lake Sartlan, including Eurasian perch (Perca fluviatilis), carp, European bream, and pike.
