Sosnogorsk

(until 1957, Izhma), a city in the Komi ASSR, under the jurisdiction of the Ukhta city soviet. Situated on the Izhma River, a tributary of the Pechora River. Railroad station on the Kotlas-Vorkuta line. Population, 27,000 (1975). Sosnogorsk has enterprises servicing the railroad industry and enterprises for the production of industrial carbon black and wood products.
