Svetlyi Iar

an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Svetlyi Iar Raion, Volgograd Oblast, RSFSR. Svetlyi Iar is a landing on the right bank of the Volga, located 24 km east of the Sarepta railroad station on the Volgograd-Tikho-retskaia line and 40 km from Volgograd. It has a plant for the production of protein and vitamin concentrates and a vegetable and milk sovkhoz. There is fishing and salt mining.
