UCHL1 UCHL1 A gene on chromosome 4p14 that encodes a ubiquitin-protein hydrolase, involved both in processing of ubiquitin precursors and ubiquitinated proteins, which recognises and hydrolyses a peptide bond at the C-terminal glycine of ubiquitin. UCHL1 also binds free monoubiquitin and may prevent its degradation in lysosomes. |
