Photometric Density Equivalent

Photometric Density Equivalent

the mass of developed silver per unit of surface of a photographic emulsion that, if uniformly distributed over the emulsion, yields an optical density equal to 1. The quantity depends on the choice of film, the developing conditions, and other factors that determine the size, structure, and arrangement of developed silver grains in the emulsion. Typical values for many films range from 1 to 3 g/m2.
