Trainin, Il’Ia Pavlovich
Born Dec. 26, 1886 (Jan. 7, 1887), in Riga; died June 27, 1949, in Moscow. Soviet jurist and public figure. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1939). Member of the CPSU from 1904.
Trainin began working at the Institute of Law of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1931 and was director of the institute from 1942 to 1947. From 1946 to 1949 he was a member of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and served as secretary of the division of economics and law. Trainin’s principal works were The State and Communism (1940) and Questions of Territory in Public Law (1947). He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Charles University (University of Prague) in 1948.
