Tazy

a local name for some Udegeis who by the early 20th century had adopted a settled way of life and some elements of Chinese and Manchu culture.

a breed of large hunting dogs of the sight hound group. The tazy is used for equestrian hunts for saiga, goitered gazelle, fox, corsac, hare, and occasionally wolf. The breed originated in ancient Syria and was subsequently raised in Arabia and Iran. In the USSR it is bred in Middle Asia, Kazakhstan, the steppes of Astrakhan Oblast, and the North Caucasus. The height of the male and female at the shoulder is 60–70 cm and 55–65 cm, respectively. The dog has long, droopy ears and a thin, curved tail. The coat is short and smooth and may be white (sometimes with spots), black, reddish, or various shades of gray.
