Taza-Bag-Iab Culture

Taza-Bag-Iab Culture

a Bronze Age archaeological culture of Khwarazm in the middle and late second millennium B.C. The Taza-Bag-iab culture developed in the Southern Aral Region with the mixing of the local population with peoples from the Southern Ural Region, bearers of the Timber-frame and An-dronovo cultures. The influence of the latter can be traced in the anthropological type (seeKOKCHA-3) and the material culture of the Taza-Bag-iab population. Taza-Bag-iab dwellings were semi-subterranean post houses. The main occupations of the population were irrigated farming and stock raising. Tools and weapons were made of bronze, more rarely of stone. The modeled pottery was flat-bottomed, with incised and stamped geometric designs. The clan social organization preserved matriarchal traditions.
