Psychic Telephone
Psychic Telephone
(religion, spiritualism, and occult)The Psychic Telephone was an instrument invented by F. R. Melton of Nottingham, England. It consisted of a wooden box containing a rubber bag connected to a pair of earphones. Melton’s idea was that if a medium blew into the bag, inflating it and sealing it, the bag would then act as a substitute for the medium. Earphones connected to it would then pick up the sounds of the spirits normally heard clairaudiently by the medium. Direct voice would also come through the earphones. Harry Price thoroughly tested the Psychic Telephone at the National Laboratory for Psychical Research, and found that it did not work.
