stereoscopic model[¦ster·ē·ə¦skäp·ik ′mäd·əl] (graphic arts) A mental impression of an area or object seen as being in three dimensions when viewed stereoscopically on photographs. Stereoscopic Model a three-dimensional impression of an object or sector of terrain received by an observer viewing two flat perspective images obtained from different points in space. With the simultaneous observation of such a stereoscopic pair of images, of a measurement mark (of the appropriate stereophotogrammetric instrument), and of the superposition of the images, a highly precise alignment of the points of the images can be obtained. The alignment can be used to identify the points and to measure coordinates. |
