Taylor, Euphemia Jane Taylor, Euphemia Jane [U.S. nurse, 1878–1957] A pioneer of psychiatric nursing. She graduated from the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing in 1907 and became Director of Nursing Services at the Henry Phipps Clinic at Johns Hopkins from 1913 to 1919. Due to her efforts, Johns Hopkins was the first general hospital school of nursing to offer a course in psychiatric nursing. She became the Dean of the Yale School of Nursing in 1934 and served in this position until 1944. She was also a leader in the International Council of Nurses until her death. |
